This is the view from the front door. Each student has a home base with optional flexible seating options throughout the room. | I got rid of my teacher desk long ago and replaced it with a circle table for conferring. Here's the view from my spot. | This is the view from the back of the room. To the left of the smartboard is my "math meeting" magnetic wall and to the right is the focus wall for the day. |
This works as a standing table or the students can use stools to perch. | This is a comfy floor area with coffee tables and floor cushions. Beanbags are stacked on the other side of the coffee table. | This circle table was converted to a coffee table with stability disks and cushions. |
To the left scoop rockers are held by command hooks and the counter has "extra's" for students who have misplaced tools. A classroom favorite - sofa with adirondack chairs are placed behind the "back" row of the carpet. | The drawers under the counter have markers, colored pencils, and a bin for sharpened and unsharpened pencils, rulers, and erasers. On student desks, to start the year, I select a range of books for them to read before they start book shopping. To the right are a stack of community supplies. | The counter has scissors, extra crayons, glue sticks, pencil sharpener and the baskets contain headphones. The stacked community supplies are to the left. (bottom - glue sticks and scissors, middle - dry erase supplies, top - pencils, highlighters, and flairs. The pencil box contains student name tags, crayons, colored pencils, nametag and raffle container) |
