After 28 years, I'm finally starting up my own teaching blog. Why now? Much has changed since I started teaching. The digital age has changed the world ~ how children develop, how we interact. Brain research has deepened our understanding of the teaching-learning interaction. Yet, while so much has changed, one thing remains. “He who dares to teach must never cease to learn.” ~ Richard Henry Dann. Our classrooms are filled with complex individuals - each developing socially, emotionally, intellectually at their own developmental rhythm. To light the fire for each student, a teacher is also a student. Learning about the intricacies of each child, new strategies and instructional/technological tools; a teacher weaves it all into a meaningful whole; a beautiful tapestry. The result is the twinkle in the eye of the student, the Aha! moment, or the smile that comes after much perseverance over a difficult task, a newfound confidence. This is why I teach. As I continue my journey as a teacher/student....I will be sharing instructional resources I create for my class. I hope that they can be a resource to you as well.
